How do I know if my panel needs an upgrade?
Common signs: breakers that trip regularly, a 100 amp main in a house with modern AC and appliances, no room for new circuits, a Federal Pacific or Zinsco label, or an insurer or four-point inspection flagging the panel. We can tell you definitively with a quick assessment.
Why do Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels get replaced?
Both brands have documented histories of breakers failing to trip under fault conditions, which is the one job a breaker exists to do. Many insurance carriers surcharge or decline homes that still have them.
How long does a panel upgrade take?
Most panel replacements are done in one day, with power off for part of it. A full service upgrade with a new meter can involves utility scheduling, which we coordinate for you.
Is a permit required for a panel upgrade?
Yes, everywhere in our service area. We pull the permit, meet the inspector, and close it out. An unpermitted panel swap can create real problems at sale time and with insurance claims.
